A 26-year-old veterinary doctor waiting near a toll plaza was killed Wednesday night after Wheeler had a tire punctured. The burned body of the doctor was found on Thursday morning. After the initial investigation, the police suspect that the woman was raped before the murder. The Cyberabad police have detained four suspects in the case.

On Wednesday also, the doctor returned from the Veterinary Hospital to the toll plaza and from there left to go to another clinic. At 9.22 pm, the doctor told his sister on the phone that his two-wheeler had a tire puncture. A person has offered him help. After some time, he called again and told that the person offering help is saying that all the shops around are closed and the car will have to be taken elsewhere to get the puncture fixed.

The Veterinary Doctor lived in Shadnagar and worked in a Veterinary Hospital in Shamshabad, about 30 km from here. She used to park her two-wheeler every day on the Tondupalli toll plaza on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway and take a cab from there to the hospital.


She was scared when the doctor called

Family members said in a statement to the police that she was scared when the doctor called her sister. The sister suggested him to leave the two-wheeler there and book the cab and return home. But the doctor said that he felt awkward waiting in the toll plaza on the highway. The doctor later told her sister that there are strangers around, they are staring at her and she is scared. A lorry is standing nearby, where few people are present. The doctor told his sister that he kept talking to her on the phone. Later the doctor's phone switched off at 9:44 pm. The family filed a missing report by the police.

A farmer saw the burnt corpse

Veterinary Doctor A farmer, about 30 km from the toll plaza on the Hyderabad-Bangalore highway, was last seen on Thursday morning and saw his burnt body. He informed the police. Police called the family members of the doctor to the spot based on the missing report. The carcass of the doctor was identified by the dark scarf and gold pendant. Police also found bottles of liquor from the vicinity.

The doctor's younger sister told the police that her sister called her around 9.22 pm saying that she was at the toll plaza and waiting to get back her scooter from a person who took the vehicle for repair as it had a flat tire. "You keep talking until my scooter comes back. They are all waiting outside. I'm scared," Priyanka told her sister. However, later he hung up telling her sister she would call soon. Her sister said that Priyanka's phone was switched off when the former called her sister around 9.44 pm. When the family failed to reach her over the phone, she drove to toll plaza but did not find her following a complaint was lodged with the police. Priyanka's body was found burnt around 25 km from the toll plaza.


Home Minister's statement draws flak: Priyanka could have been saved if she called the police instead of her sister, said the state Home Minister Mahmood Ali. However, the minister later clarified his remarks saying she was like her daughter. "Deeply saddened by the mishap. Stern action will be delivered to the culprit," said the minister. "How anyone could subject another human being to such terrible, unprovoked violence is beyond imagination. My thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family at this time of immense grief," he said.

The most vulnerable state of Telangana:

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Telangana is the most unsafe state in the country for girls aged 18 to 30 years. In the year 2017, 91% of the total rape cases reported here are between 18 and 30 years, which is the highest in the country. However, the highest number of rape cases have been reported in Madhya Pradesh.

People demand, hang the killers

This incident has shocked people all over the country. There was anger among the people from the road to the Parliament about the incident. People demanded that the doctor's killers be hanged. On social media, people are comparing this case with the Nirbhaya gang-rape case in the capital Delhi. Nirbhaya convicts were sentenced to be hanged, but the case is still pending in reconsideration petitions. After this incident, people are demanding immediate public hanging.
